*MAKE SURE YOU GET ENTRY TICKETS IN ADVANCE* many people were turned away when we visited.
Another awesome park easily explored in one day! The caverns are lowly lit throughout, but we recommend head lamps or even night vision goggles (apparently, quite a few animals live down there!). We visited in the winter, but recommend visiting in the summer when the bats 🦇 are there! We heard the night flight is amazing! Elevator takes you up and down, but it’s more fun to see more of the cavern by hiking down a little over a mile and then doing the mile or so loop around the bottom. While in town, if you’re around during the holidays, Christmas on the Pecos is a fun and short boat cruise with lights! I also highly recommend Carlsbad Hyatt as a landing pad (only 20-30 min from the caverns).
We’ll be back to do the Kings Canyon tour (guided and includes helmets, and narrow crawls) and the bat viewing in the summer!
