If you're looking for a truly enchanting vineyard experience, you need to check out the gardens at Campovida Winery. The vibe there is a perfect mix of old-world elegance, secret garden charm, and a relaxed, free-flowing atmosphere. I went in late September, and the whole place was bursting with color and life— though I can only imagine how breathtaking it must be in the spring! The grounds are vast and beautifully laid out with cozy, tucked-away seating areas that make you feel like you have your own private escape to enjoy.
What sets Campovida apart isn't just the amazing wines, but also their are commitment to biodynamic farming. As you explore, you'll come across seasonal fruits and veggies-grapes, strawberries, tomatoes, squash, pumpkins, apples, stone fruits, you name it. The paths lined with trees, overhead trellises, and art sculptures made from natural elements really bring the garden to life. Plus, they've got water features and little vignettes that make the whole experience immersive and magical.
We did a self-guided wine tasting, and they really go all out! Upon arrival, they give you a basket with four varietals of wine, each with a description, a picnic blanket, a small produce box, a stainless steel water bottle, and a map to guide you through the gardens. It's the perfect way to leisurely explore the vineyard at your own pace. The presentation was so thoughtful, and I was truly wowed by everything.
A quick tip: dress for the weather! It was in the mid-90s when I visited, but the shade and occasional breeze made it super comfortable. I wore a light sundress, comfy shoes, and a sun hat, while my husband rocked a t-shirt, shorts, and a ball cap. Also, don't be surprised if your GPS takes you through an old country graveyard it's near the vineyard and honestly adds a bit of local charm and history. If that's not your thing, just pass it, and you'll see signs directing you to the vineyard.
Campovida is one of many vineyards in the area, so make a day of it and explore! Keep an eye out for my full post soon where I'll dive into all the highlights and tips for your visit! #Campovida
